California Car Sounds and Tint in Campbell offers a variety of dash camera solutions. These compact video recording devices mount discretely to the top of your windshield and start recording automatically as soon as you start your car. Let’s look at the details of how a dashcam works and at some of the products we offer.
Dash Camera Systems and Features
When it comes to recording video, all of our camera systems capture video at full HD 1920×1080 pixel resolution. The cameras feature a wide-angle lens for as much coverage as possible. If a car, bicycle or pedestrian is approaching from the side, it will be in the video. Our two most popular products, the Momento MD5200 and BlackVue DR5650S-2CH, include a second camera that we can mount to record the interior of your vehicle or what happens behind it.
Our camera systems include an onboard 3-axis accelerometer to store driving behavior information. Sudden braking, aggressive acceleration and quick lane changes are all stored along with the video. A GPS receiver captures vehicle location and stores that information along with the video files. If your children borrow the family car, a dash camera is a great way to ensure they are driving safely.
Once you start your car or truck, the cameras start recording high-quality video and audio right away. These video files are stored to a microSD card. Once the card is full, the oldest video is replaced with a new one. If you press the event button on the camera or it detects a large, sudden change in direction or sudden braking, it will automatically store 10 seconds before the event happened and 50 seconds after. Event videos are stored in a separate folder.
Why Do I Need a Dashcam?
You would be surprised how often people fake being involved in an accident. Pedestrians crossing in front your car will jump on your hood, claiming you ran into then. We’ve heard of cases where a driver who is stopped at a light reverses into your vehicle, then claims you hit them. Protecting yourself from fraudulent events like this is the perfect job for a dashcam.
If you own or manage a fleet of vehicles, having a dashcam installed in them has proven to increase employee efficiency and improve their driving habits. The cost savings from detours and wasted time can pay for the camera system in short order.
