A client from Menlo Park recently visited California Car Sounds and Tint to inquire about a Lamborghini Huracan radar detector and laser defense solution. The local Lamborghini dealer referred the client to us based on work we have done for other exotic car owners. We talked to the client about how he drives the vehicle and the technology he owns to develop a solution that would work in this application. We suggested the AL Priority laser defense system with the optional radar detector, HiFi module and Bluetooth interface.
AL Priority Laser Sensor Installation
To provide the best possible protection against police laser guns, we mounted three laser transceivers on the front of the Huracan. Our lead fabricator Aaron had to create a pair of mounting pods for the outer sensors to ensure that they would be perfectly aligned with the vehicle. He used acrylic plastic and automotive body filler to sculpt the pods to the vehicle. A jig held the sensors parallel to the ground and perpendicular to the centerline of the vehicle to ensure they were aimed perfectly. A third sensor mounted in the middle of the front grille adds additional range and sensitivity to the system.
We mounted two additional laser sensors on the rear of the vehicle, just behind the hexagon mesh rear grille. We added an AL Priority TX sensor to the back of the car for a boost in signal transmission to prevent laser devices from taking a speed measurement.
Lamborghini Huracan Radar Receiver
To alert the driver to conventional radar, we mounted one of the Net radar receivers to the front of the vehicle. An aluminum mounting bracket ensures that the receiver stays in place behind the front bumper fascia.
AL Priority Interface Components
The HiFi module adds voice alerts to the system so that the client will know right away what kind of system is targeting the vehicle and what direction it’s coming from. The control panel for the system is mounted out of the way under the center console of the vehicle. The primary control source for the system is the client’s smartphone, which connects using the Bluetooth interface. The system can be configured, controlled and even updated using the smartphone.
Premium Laser Defense and Radar Detector System
After three days of work, we had the system installed and configured, and the Lamborghini Huracan Radar project was ready to go back to the client. He was very impressed with the way we integrated everything into the vehicle.
