Radio Upgrade for Santa Clara Bentley Continental

A client from Santa Clara recently contacted the team at California Car Sounds and Tint to inquire about upgrading the radio in his wife’s Bentley Continental. The client had originally contacted the local Bentley dealership. Knowing our capabilities, they referred him to us. After inspecting the vehicle and talking to the client, we put together a nice upgrade package to modernize this gorgeous luxury coupe.

Pioneer Multimedia Receiver

We showed the client several of the radio options we have on display here at the store so he could get a feel for the way the different interfaces worked. He chose a Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX double-DIN unit that includes wireless Apple CarPlay. The wireless connection uses Wi-Fi and will pair automatically with his wife’s iPhone as soon as she gets in the vehicle.

The CarPlay interface makes it easy to place phone calls, check text messages or choose entertainment sources using the Siri voice recognition technology built into the phone. The client’s wife can just ask for what she wants. She can also choose from streaming audio services like Apple Music, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Tidal or Google Play Music.

Bentley Radio and Camera Installation

While demonstrating the features of the Pioneer radio, we mentioned that it was compatible with a backup camera. The client loved the idea of being able to see behind the almost 16-foot-long vehicle. We mounted an Advent ACA-502 backup camera just above the license plate on the rear of the vehicle. The camera includes an angled housing that ensures everything behind this massive car will be visible on the screen of the new radio.

We used a NAV-TV Bentley Head Unit Replacement system to install the Pioneer unit in the dash. This kit from NAV-TV includes new climate control and vehicle configuration adjustments with a dedicated LCD screen to display each adjustment option. Up top, there was room for our technicians to mount the double-DIN radio in place of the factory screen. Complete connectivity with the stereo control buttons in the steering wheel is also part of this installation solution.

Once the radio and camera installed was complete and tested, we called the client to let him know he could pick up the vehicle. When he arrived back at California Car Sounds and Tint in Campbell, we showed him how to connect his phone to the radio and explained the basic functions of the CarPlay and built-in navigation system. He was thrilled with the upgrade!
